Painting is both a visual and conceptual journey. Processes of time and change are vital underlying ingredients that are living in all concepts, statements and representations. My paintings are fused with surfaces of animated complexity where space, colour and texture all reside in an energetic world where elements gel, compliment, reflect, conflict, and work in discord and harmony, in order to challenge visual senses.
Recent ideas and concepts for my work have been constructed from explorations in cities such as Rome, Rotterdam and London. The association with different places provides energy and stimulation in the thought process.
Each painting is normally worked on over a long period of time and the painted surfaces often fused with visual shifts and changes where a tactile history is built into the animated surface, through over-painting.
